About Ukraine
Ukraine is situated in the south-eastern part of Central Europe and has its own territory, government, national emblem, flag and anthem. Ukraine today is a country of 46 million people, most of whom are ethnic Ukrainians. It borders on Russia, Byelorussia, Moldova, Slovakia, Roumania, Hungary and Poland on land and Russia, Georgia, Bulgaria, Roumania and Turkey on sea. The main Ukrainian river is the Dnieper. It is one of the longest European rivers and one of the republic's main sources of hydroelectric power.
Ukrainian, Russian, English are the main languages, Ukrainian people speak.
Local currency of Ukraine is hryvnia.

Ukraine is one of the few countries of the world where aviation and space engineering is developed and manufactured and where skilled specialists are trained for these areas. National Aerospace N.E. Zhukovskiy University “Kharkiv Aviation Institute” founded in 1930 is a leading one among the Ukrainian educational institutions training out such specialists.
The history of the University is closely related with the development of aircraft engineering and science. The University is famous for its high-speed airplane invention (being the first in Europe with a retractable landing gear) and the design of the turbojet engine developed by professor of the University.
The University is a member of International Association of Universities IUA/UNESCO, the EASN (European Aeronautics Science Network), Partnership of a European Group of Aeronautics and Space Universities (PEGASUS). It is also in the International University Catalogue and belongs to the Association of Higher Educational Institutions of Kharkiv city INTERVUZ as well as to the Aerospace Agency of Ukraine.
The Degrees and Diplomas of the KhAI are recognized by the International Association of Universities IUA (UNESCO).
