Are the medical degrees from Russian Universities recognized?
Most of the Russian universities are recognized by WHO and Medical council of India. To practice in India, after the successful completion of the course, the student is expected to appear for a screening test conducted by the National Board of Examination (http://www.natboard.edu.in) as required by the Medical Council of India (http://www.mciindia.org) prior to the registration with the Medical Council of India. The academic requirement for the eligibility certificate as defined by the Medical Council of India for the general is an aggregate 50% marks in the Physics / Chemistry and Biology and 40% incase of the reserved category.

Do student have to give any entrance examination for joining the university in Russia?
NO. The students need not appear for any entrance examination. The admissions are based on the 12th standard marks for Graduate courses and as per the equivalency of the Indian graduate degree with the Russian degrees for the post graduate courses. All admissions are strictly on a first come first served basis

What are Russian classroom environments like?
In most Russian universities, the general teacher student ratio of 1:10 is practiced giving students a more attentive and personal learning environment

What if I want to go home or travel out of Russia during my studies?
When you know your travel dates out of the country, you MUST apply with the Russian University for what is termed as an "Exit-Re-Entry" visa, which allows you to leave and return again without giving up your student visa. You will need to submit additional photos, and to pay a fee. You should also apply for this at least 3 weeks before your planned travel dates, and you will need to specify the "travel window (exit and return dates)" during which this "Exit-Re-Entry" visa should be valid.
Do not lose this "Exit-Re-Entry" visa as entry to Russia is not permitted without this document. Re-application / replacement can only be processed by the University concerned. This may take between 4 to 6 weeks. All students are strongly advised to staple this visa slip to their passport as this is not done by the authorities. -
Can my parents or family visit me while I study in Russia?
Yes , family can visit you ,however, the Russian university and the Russian government is not responsible for the travel expenses or arranging accommodation for the family.
Students must apply to the University for an Invitation letter for their family. With this letter, student’s family can apply for a visa for entry into Russia at the local Russian Embassy or Consulate. Please allow between 4-8weeks for the visa application process. -
Is it necessary for me to have the policy of medical insurance during training in Russia?
Each student undertaking his training in Russia has to get a policy of medical insurance. The policy should be valid on territory of the country. Usually, the institute/university offers to international student’s assistance in getting the policy on services of the institution polyclinic. Nevertheless, it is not an obligatory condition. That is why students can use the service of any other national or international insurance company.
Most of the programs at Russian universities are taught in Russian language. At the same time, some short-term and full-term programs in foreign languages (English, French) have been developed recently. That preferably concerns various programs in the field of medicine. -
What services are included in the tuition fees?
The tuition fee covers most expenses concerning the studies: textbooks, instructions, access to seminars, lectures, required tests throughout the year, access to the Internet in computer rooms. Please, read carefully the information about universities' programs: some schools may include costs of accommodation and/or medical insurance into the tuition fee.

Is it possible to pay the tuition fee in installment plan?
Graduate students usually may choose how to pay the tuition fee: it might be paid either once per year or in two equal parts during the year (before the beginning of a semester).
The entire Russian institute where the admission is sought is thoroughly and duly recognized A.I.C.T.E. and meets all the standards and norms as desired. -
Is there any scholarship or grant available for foreign students?
The education in Russia is highly subsidized by the Government of the Russian Federation. Due to this no separate scholarships or grants are available from any individual universities. However, bank loans are now readily available from all nationalized, co-operative and the private sector banks. These loans are available at very low interest and are generally repaid in easy installments, one year after the completion of the educational period.

How much are the living expenses in Russia?
Generally a student can stay quite comfortably in around US$ 80 - US$ 100 per month. This figure is approximate and would differ from city to city, person to person based on his / her living standards.

Yes, a student can open a bank account in his name.

Where can I obtain foreign exchange for my studies in Russia and do I need to obtain permission from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) for the same?

Does the student have to be present personally for an interview at the Russian Embassy / Consulate for the issuance of visa?
No. BGC on the behalf of students applies for the Visa with the Russian Embassy or the Consulate.

How do I make my travel arrangements?
BGC assists the students to pmake their travel arrangements like the air ticket, immigration clearance etc.

What would I need to carry with me along to Russia?
Make sure you carry with you the following documents:
Passport (original)
Air Ticket
Copy of the visa invitation (To be arranged by BGC)
Copy of the visa
Foreign exchange for the fees / living expenses
Mark sheet as well as certificate of 10th , 12th std.
Degree mark sheet and transcript for P.G. students.
Internship completion certificate (for P. G. students only)
Admission letter
20 colour photographs of 3.5 X 3.5 cm size.

What is the type of accommodation that is given by the Universities in Russia? University provides enough space in the hostels for all international students with comfortable living condition. All hostels are supplied with cold and hot water and central heating system, each room contains beds, a desk, chairs and storage space and telephone facility.

What would be the type of food generally found in Russia?
All types of vegetarian and non-vegetarian food are available. There are rich variety of milk products and fruits available.

How do I contact my parents or friends down in India?
Telecom and internet facilities are available all over Russia. Students have free access to internet at university. Also students can buy mobile phone with which they can contact their friends and parents down in India.

Who does the student contact in Russia if he / she have any queries or problems at the University / hostel?
Students can contact the relevant authorities at the University / hostel to solve their problem. Also you can contact BGC regarding your problem in case you need.

When does the university have vacations?
There are two types of vacations in Russian medical universities.
Winter vacation: 20th January to 5th February
Summer vacation: 1st July to 31st August
Note: In summer and winter vacation students can visit their home town or can stay there in Russia.
